Building an O-1 Itinerary

Last updated on September 11, 2026

An itinerary should show definite work while accounting for occupations built around temporary engagements and changing production schedules.

Purpose

The itinerary explains the nature of the events or activities, their beginning and ending dates, and the locations of work. It becomes especially important when the beneficiary will work in multiple locations or for multiple entities.

Useful detail

List each engagement, contracting entity, venue or work location, approximate dates, and services. Supporting contracts, letters of intent, production schedules, or project descriptions should correspond with the itinerary.

Precision without invention

The petition should not manufacture certainty the industry does not provide. It should give the available facts and explain customary scheduling practices where necessary. Current USCIS guidance recognizes that the evidentiary assessment must account for the realities of the beneficiary’s occupation while still establishing non-speculative work.
