How to Write a Strong NIW Proposed Endeavor

Last updated on September 11, 2026

The proposed endeavor should operate as a plan, not a slogan.

Answer the practical questions

A useful statement explains what the applicant will do, the methods involved, the intended beneficiaries, the geographic or industry reach, the expected outputs, the pathway from present work to future impact, and other details needed to understand how the endeavor will operate.

Separate the endeavor from the occupation

An occupation describes a type of work; an endeavor identifies the particular work the applicant proposes to undertake. “I will work as an engineer” is an occupation. A defined program to improve a specified infrastructure process through identified methods is an endeavor.

Align the record

The statement should match the applicant’s experience, business plan, letters, contracts, publications, and other evidence. Consistency makes the endeavor credible; unexplained changes or inflated projections weaken it.
